Naively Yours, Victoria
Her name's Victoria. She's been horded, sheltered,
abusively hidden from the world. Victoria knows
nothing of the world, to the lengths of barely knowing
what a dog looks like. She's been programmed from
birth to marry a man. She has nothing but disdain and
derision for the man she's being forced into wedding.
Frances' evil plot to wed off her only child, a daughter
at that, is spinning out of control. But, she meets a
man. He's a country ranching cowboy. Closed off from
the world by a tragic event, Jareth finds the only
serenity he can in the majestic, wondrous views of the
mountainous valley around his 1145 acre ranch. Until,
that is, someone breaks down in a car at the side of
the road. After which, his world is thrown into a
chaotic whirlwind of mysterious intrigue when a past,
comes to the present. But there's a darkness coming.
Something rising over the horizon of this picturesque,
countryside ranch, which will alter two individual
person's lives—forever. Stealthily, the darkness looms
over the lives of multiple persons, which, only in the
end, will shatter the ties that bind.

"From within the author's heart ..."

Writing most often arises from within an author’s heart and Naively Yours – Victoria does just that. Although the work is
fiction, one quickly develops the idea that much of what you are reading is too close to truth; and it is that truth that gracefully
develops into so many tears at the conclusion. Throughout the novel the author remains focused on the main characters;
Victoria and Jareth, and one quickly begins to feel that you are reading about a chain of events that are far too real. Victoria
has led a life controlled by her mother and the mother’s selection for Victoria’s future husband; Sheldon. Sheldon is the worst
possible sum of all things that can be wrong in a man consumed with only himself; egotistical, self-centered, violent,
controlling, and totally without any redeeming qualities.
Sheldon pops in and out, forever trying to obtain Victoria as his possession. It is this attitude that is Sheldon’s undoing and
ultimate path to his well-deserved death. By the time the reader reaches the novel’s climax tears have already begun to well
up. Although Victoria and Jareth live a happy life together one cannot help but shed a tear when Victoria succumbs to cancer
at the age of sixty.
The novel is part autobiographical, part hope, part dreams, and with a healthy amount of déjà vu near the end. And although
the end of the story is a happy one, you cannot help but think that no one should ever need endure so much hardship in
order to reach happiness. It was a good read! Once I started I had a difficult time putting the book down.

"I so loved this book"

I so loved this book. Ms LaCroix-Wagaman paints a vivid picture with her writing. You can almost see and feel the mountains
and valleys that she describes. I found myself so close to the characters she has created that I did not want the book to end.
I can't wait to read more from Ms. LaCroix-Wagaman!
